Is this statement about political correctness true or false, and why?
When one tries to make science out of common human courtesy and decency, Political Correctness may be the religion one succeeds inventing instead. At times it seems like it's about an attempt to make everyone "comfortable" by completely sterilizing any innocent remark and act - especially at the height of it all when for instance "vertically endowed" meant to replace "tall", when at Halloween certain costumes were discouraged out of concern "law abiding Vampire-Americans might feel stigmatized", and such... I can sympathize with the original intent to steer society towards a "kinder gentler" order, but in my opinion like some reactionary extremes to social ills, it seems to have overshot its mark at times to say the least. But, it's perhaps part of never ending process of reactions to counter-reactions in societies wildly swinging between various extremes often overshooting equilibrium. Regards Pat.
