Window Meda Player Won't Stream Internet Content?

This happens in all version's, Ive installed a codec pack to solve this but still doesnt work. It just sits there saying ready when trying to stream I press play it trys to connect then goes back to saying ready this happens with ALL WMP streams ive tried reinstalling WMP still no joy, it used to work and as far as i know i've changed nothing it is very irritating! Please help!
