Can a small object in nose travel other places than by the throat and can it sit in your lung w/o U knowing?

I am not sure if I have a nose ring back stuck in the back of my nose, my Doctor said they might have to put me to sleep (when I go in) But really think i swallowed it.Also I am petrified on way or the other. Being put to Sleep is not a Idea that sits with me.
