Legality of Nude pictures being sent to younger girls in other countries.?

Is it illegal for a 19 year old male in the USA to send nude pics of himself to a 16 year old girl, who's in the UK where the age of consent is 16? I know that it must be illegal for the girl to send it to the guy in this case, but i donno if it is, in the other way around.
